Maxis "Get Cool Stuff" Archive
Official Maxis content not included in Legacy Collection – restored and ready to install
Between 2000 and 2003, Maxis released free official objects, skins, and houses through the "Get Cool Stuff" section on thesims.com. Most of this was not bundled into Legacy Collection – either because licenses expired (branded objects like the McDonald's cart, Pepsi machine, and Intel computer) or it was simply not included. The community has archived all of it.

All known Maxis "Get Cool Stuff" content packaged specifically for Legacy Collection. Files are pre-extracted and organised by destination folder – no old .exe installers to wrestle with. Includes branded objects, promotional skins, NPC templates, and official houses.

Download the archive, open the folder for each content type, and copy the files into the matching folder in your game install. The archive mirrors the game's folder structure – objects go in
Downloads\, skins in GameData\Skins\, and so on. Each subfolder has a readme explaining where the files go.⚙️

⭐ Notable mention – No Pets Allowed Sign: A built-in base game object in Buy Mode → Decorative → Misc (requires Unleashed). Not a mod, but easy to overlook. Strays (loose cats and dogs) wander onto lots and urinate outdoors, knock over bins, and leave mess, all of which tanks the outdoor Room score and makes your Sims uncomfortable and unhappy every time they step outside. Placing this sign anywhere on the lot keeps strays off it permanently – no mod, no hack, no side effects. One of the most useful objects in the whole base game and almost nobody knows it exists.

Debug & Runtime Tools
Run before launching the game to unlock features not available by default
These tools run alongside the game rather than modifying your Downloads folder. They patch the game in memory at runtime. Run before launching, keep open while playing, close when done.
Sims 1 Legacy Collection Hacks
by FaithBeam – Unlocks the hidden edit_char debug cheat. Run Sims1LegacyHacks.exe before launching the game and keep it open while you play. Works on Steam and EA App.
✅ Unlocks: Change Sim appearance (face, hair, skintone) in live mode via full Create-A-Sim access for any Sim.

Open the cheat console
In-game press Ctrl+Shift+C.
Type edit_char
Type edit_char and press Enter, then click any Sim to open Create-A-Sim for them.
Children Ageing Up (with Birthday Cake mod)
Combined with the FaithBeam tool and a birthday cake mod, children can be aged up to adults. Using edit_char afterwards gives full control over the adult's appearance.
