All mods go in your Downloads\ folder unless noted. All confirmed working with Legacy Collection patch 1.122. Please make sure to read each download page's instructions completely before putting any CC/Mod files into folders. Some CC do state they need to be in specifc folders to work.

⭐ Notable Mention - No Pets Allowed Sign

This isn't a mod or CC - it's a built-in base game object that many players don't know about, but it's incredibly useful if you have the Unleashed expansion. Strays wandering onto your lot can dig up your garden, pee on things, and generally make a mess. The No Pets Allowed sign fixes this completely - when a stray approaches your lot boundary, it reads the sign and walks away without setting foot on your property.

How to find it: In Buy Mode, click the Decorative (paintings) category, then the Misc Decorative subcategory. The sign appears early in that list. Place it anywhere on your lot, ideally near the entrance or front fence. No configuration needed - it works automatically.

Exe Patches & Debug Tools

Community tools that unlock features locked in the Legacy Collection

These tools work differently to regular mods - they patch the game's executable file rather than adding files to your Downloads folder. Read the instructions carefully before using them, and make sure you back up your original Sims.exe first.

Sims 1 Legacy Collection Hacks

Patches the game executable to unlock hidden debug cheats that were disabled in the Legacy Collection, including the edit_char cheat which opens Create-A-Sim in live mode. This lets you change a Sim's face, hair and skintone while playing - something that was not possible in the base game.

What edit_char unlocks:

Change Sim appearance (face, hair, skintone) in live mode
Full Create-A-Sim access for any playable Sim while in-game

Using edit_char:

Install the patch following FaithBeam's instructions on GitHub
In game, press Ctrl+Shift+C to open the cheat console
Type edit_char and press Enter
Click any Sim on the lot to open Create-A-Sim for that Sim

Children Ageing Up (with Birthday Cake mod)

FaithBeam patch + birthday cake mod

Combined with the exe patch above and a birthday cake mod, children can be aged up to adults without needing Makin' Magic. Previously the only built-in method was the "Age of Instant" charm in Makin' Magic, which aged the child but fully randomised their adult appearance. Using edit_char after ageing gives you full control over the result.

Two birthday cake mods are known to work for this:

Puberty Blows - posted by user ed95 on the Mod The Sims forum thread "WCIF: Puberty Blows Birthday Cake?". Search for that thread title on ModTheSims to find the download link in the replies.
SimLifeCycle birthday cake mod - originally from SimLifeCycle.com (now defunct). An archived version of the downloads page is available at: Wayback Machine archive ↗ - check this for the specific file download.

If neither link works, post on Simblr.cc or the Sims 1 subreddit - the community will know the current best source for a working version.
